Man in his 40s dies in Galway road accident

The incident happened yesterday afternoon.

A MAN IN his 40s has died in a road crash in Galway.

Gardaí said they are investigating the incident which happened on the Monivea to Athenry road at around 3.15pm yesterday.

They said a man in his late 40s died when he lost control of his motorcycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to University Hospital Galway.

A garda spokesman said: “This stretch of road was closed for a time to facilitate an examination by garda forensic collision investigators and has since reopened.

“Gardaí wish to appeal for witnesses to contact Galway garda station on 091-538000, the garda confidential telephone line 1800 666 111 or any garda station.”
